Old For New

He exchanges old for new, a new season and a new start.

As an empty canvas awaiting the colors and contours of the brush.

Life is a love story beautiful in its acceptance and powerful in its work.

Perfection flows from the enjoyment of it, when the beauty outshines the worn and tattered wings.

This is one of my first character creations that was not commissioned as I am a true abstract artist at heart. I started the project with texture without sketching or drawing a template and then added soft acrylic colors to fill it out. I used gold for the edges and borders and then worked in some definition with dark blues and purples.

I created this out of a passion for the new life I now live in spite of my past. I have been reborn amidst the adversity, pain and loss that I have experienced. I have true wealth, wisdom and love to a degree that I never thought possible throughout the years of the struggle. In fact, I would have never even recognized what true wealth, wisdom and love was had I not endured the struggle and pressed on to the life I now have. The storms and winds of this life have taught me to fly and I will continue to rise with each new season because of what I have learned.
